Our journey into the Indian Himalayas - told through photography, film and music. In 1998 our father visited Tabo, a remote village high in the Spiti Valley. There he met Pema Dorje, a young monk and the only person in the village who spoke English. Together they crossed mountain passes, stayed with local families and spoke about life, faith and the harshness of the highlands. They became close friends. But Pema's life was cut short by a tragic accident at the age of 29.

When their second son was born in 2006, my parents named him Pema, in honour of his special friend Pema Dorje. The presence of a single monk, met on a journey years before, became forever woven into our family's story.

Twenty-five years later, our father returned to The Himalayas. This time with us, Tenz and Pema. We traveled from Delhi to Shimla, Kalpa, Tabo, Dhankar, Hikkim and…
